Michael Pitfield - 1937-2017

Michael Pitfield spent his early years at Sedbergh, graduating in 1946(?) with a McGill Matriculation at age 13. He spent much of his life "contributing to the fabric of our country, including as Clerk of the Privy Council and as an independent Senator, as Vice-Chairman of Power Corporation, and through charitable work, including as Chairman of the Ottawa Heart Institute". His close connection with Sedbergh continued after the great fire when he organized Prime Minister Eliot Trudeau to come to the Valley to reopen the new school in 1981. A funeral service will be held this Friday, October 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Georges Anglican Church, 1001 Avenue des Canadiens de Montreal, in Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute, Montreal Neurological Institute and Parkinson Canada.

All Old Sedberghians who knew Michael send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
